The Institute of Archaeologists of Ireland (IAI) is seeking to recruit a suitable candidate for the position of Administrator & Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Co-ordinator (Maternity Cover).

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating all administrative duties linked with the Institute, which is the representative body for the archaeological profession on the island of Ireland. As the Administrator and CPD Co-ordinator you will be primarily based in our office at 63 Merrion Square, Dublin 2, however the option of remote working will be supported.

Main responsibilities:

  • Liaising with the members of the CPD steering committee to design a series of 10-12 annual events for the archaeological and heritage sectors.
  • Organising and implementing the 10-12 annual CPD events
  • Reporting to and assisting the members of the voluntary board of the IAI
  • Assisting the Secretary to organise and scheduling six annual Board Meetings
  • Assisting with the organisation of the annual conference and AGM
  • Assisting the Treasurer and Accountant with book-keeping and the annual audit and working with the Treasurer to manage invoicing, expenses and payments
  • Completing funding applications and liaising with our funders in the Heritage Council and National Monuments Service of the Department of Housing and Local Government
  • Monitor & reply to all incoming emails
  • Assist the Membership Secretary to help maintain their member database and providing receipts to members.
  • Archiving & GPDR guidance
  • Completion of Job Tracking sheets to be signed off by the Vice-Chair to track workload

Skills and experience required:

  • Prior experience in administrative role
  • Degree in Archaeology or a related heritage discipline
  • Ability to multitask. Working alone or with the Board and members of the Institute
  • Strong management and organisational skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Competent user of the complete Microsoft Office package
  • Proficiency in online platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom
  • A working knowledge of GDPR legislation.

Relevant training can be provided

Position: Full-time, fixed term contract for an initial period of 8-months, with a possible extension to 12-months. Position is subject to a 6-month probationary period. Start date February 2025.

Salary: €43,680 (pro rata)
